BUMBLEBEE Begins Filming, Adds.....John Cena!!! (Insert Theme Music Here)

Wrestler John Cena's 2006 feature film debut, The Marine, wasn't a huge favorite but I frankly enjoyed it as much as I wish his film career didn't taper off from blockbuster movies after 12 Rounds in 2009. Fast forward to 2017 and while netizens have run wild with memes cheering Cena's celebrity, there's no question that his on-screen charisma is totally there, and so it's nice to see him relevant this year with his recent supporting role in Doug Liman's The Wall, as well as this week regarding all things Transformers as of late.
Speaking of, I haven't seen The Last Knight yet and probably won't for a while...eventually. Alas, filming reportedly began. in Southern California on Monday for the production of Kubo And The Two Strings helmer Travis Knight's latest, Bumblebee. The new movie spins off from filmmaker Michael Bay's current Transformers pentalogy, joining Cena with a cast that now lists Hailee Steinfeld, Pamela Adlon, Stephen Schnei…

THE IMMORTAL: New Set Photos Emerge From The Upcoming Vietnamese Supernatural Action Thriller

Aside from any hint of distribution overseas as of yet, we have what we currently need with news on what's coming for director Victor Vu's superhero actioner, Lôi Bao, starring Cuong Seven. That one has a few trailers in its wake ahead of its December release while we can now confirm Vu's latest supernatural action thriller, Nguoi Bat Tu (The Immortal), which just wrapped principal photography in Quan Binh (once home to the set of Kong: Skull Island) as well as in the provinces of Hà Nam and Bien Hoa Dong Nai.

There's no logline or any story information as of yet while we have confirmed a March 2018 release. We have also ascertained further cast and crew information which has Vu reuniting with several cast and crew from Lôi Bao, joining Seven once more with that film's starring villain, actor Quach Ngọc Quan, who now serves as the lead. Actress Dinh Ngọc Diep and fellow Lôi Bao co-star Vũ Tuấn Việt round out the current cast with action choreogragrapher Vincent Wa…

DEADPOOL 2: Zazie Beetz Gets Cozy By The Fireplace As Domino In Her First Official Photo Reveal

Actor Ryan Reynolds can't ever tweet like a normal person it seems, particularly with Deadpool 2 now full-speed ahead with Atomic Blonde helmer David Leitch servicing the R-rated spectacle for his sophomore directorial outing. A June 1 release is slated for next year and among the usual periodic glimpses of the cast now comes a full-on view of actress Zazie Beetz in the role of luck-bending femme-fatale, Domino. Take a look:
Some people just know how to work a red carpet.— Ryan Reynolds (@VancityReynolds) July 31, 2017

The Tiger helmer Park Hoon-Jung's new film is one for whose plot details get more and more interesting each time you look at it. Review: Jesse Johnson's SAVAGE DOG Is Fan's Best Friend

Follow action movies long enough and you're likely one of the many in line waiting to find out what director Jesse V. Johnson has in store with upcoming ensemble thriller, Triple Threat. That project came in the wake of quite a few announcements highlighting the names of a few directors up to helm the pic while it was Johnson who eventually took it on earlier this year. The film, likely bound for 2018, will mark the latest pairing between Johnson and British actor and martial artist Scott Adkins whose earlier acting career saw their first time together on the set of 2005 action drama, Pit Fighter, led by actor and martial artist Dominique Vandenberg; Avid fans of the genre might also be keen on the point in time in which Vandernberg served as a member of the French Foreign Legion.
It's an aspect of Vandenberg's life that I find worth mentioning as I go into my review here of Johnson's new movie, Savage Dog and to be honest, I wouldn't know where to start in terms …

SUBURBICON: A Quiet Town Turned Upside Down In The First Official Trailer

Director George Clooney's latest effort with The Coen Brothers has its first official trailer out for a good sampling of some delightful dark comedy in the film, Suburbicon. Actor Matt Damon reunites with his fellow Oceans trilogy star on opposite sides of the camera and with Julianne Moore and Oscar Isaac headlining a tale that hybridizes a lot in its bizzare and fascinating imagery. Think of your favorite sitcom set in the 50's and then drench it in blood, because that's what this trailer does.
Suburbicon is a peaceful, idyllic suburban community with affordable homes and manicured lawns…the perfect place to raise a family, and in the summer of 1959, the Lodge family is doing just that. But the tranquil surface masks a disturbing reality, as husband and father Gardner Lodge (Matt Damon) must navigate the town’s dark underbelly of betrayal, deceit, and violence. This is a tale of very flawed people making very bad choices. This is Suburbicon. Enjoy below and make note of …

ENJOYING THE RIDE: An Interview With 'Baby Driver' Co-Star R Marcos Taylor

It was back in 2014 when I first caught actor and stuntman R Marcos Taylor in Tony Clomax's action short, Broken Angels. Needless to say, Taylor's credits in film and TV date back further in a series of achievements that have seen him ascend more politically as an actor having debuted to award-winning status with the independent martial arts comedy, Paying Mr. McGetty, as well as co-starring roles in F. Gary Gray's Straight Outta Compton and this summer's release, Baby Driver.

The latter, from Cornetto Trilogy helmer Edgar Wright has earned a total of $121 million dollars at the box office which surely makes for a neat addition to Taylor's growing resumé. I managed to send some questions to Taylor who took some time to briefly answer some questions in the course of his busy schedule and rest assured, this won't be the last we hear from Taylor; As it just so happens, he himself is a formidable martial artist which nothing short of emboldens one's caliber as…

David McKenzie's OUTLAW KING Casts Aaron Taylor-Johnson

Actor and director, Chris Pine and David McKenzie of Hell Or High Water fame are reuniting for the new period war epic, Outlaw King, as part of a slate of upcoming Netflix titles as of earlier this year. As of Thursday, the two will be joined by actor Aaron Taylor-Johnson (The Wall) who will play James Douglas to Pine's Robert The Bruce in service of William Wallace, the 13th century knight and Commander who led the Scottish to independence against the English.
per Mike Fleming Jr.'s report at Deadline: Douglas is a storied figure in Scottish history, and from what I’m reading, it’s hard to imagine Robert the Bruce would have succeeded in beating back England King Edward I’s armies if he didn’t have Douglas as his right-hand man. The son of the first noble to support William Wallace when the figure memorialized in Braveheartfomented the first movement toward independence from the English, Douglas saw his father’s lands given away, and after being denied them by the English ki…

SKYSCRAPER Casts 'Ghost In The Shell' Co-Star Chin Han

After filming creature thriller game adaptation, Rampage, actor and mega producer Dwayne Johnson's next area of focus is action thriller, Skyscraper, reuniting with Central Intelligence helmer Rawson Marshall Thurber. The film has also now added actor Chin Han to the cast following roles in Netflix series Marco Polo and manga adaptation Ghost In The Shell.

Han joins actresses Neve Campbell with Johnson tackling the role of Will Ford, a former FBI Hostage Rescue Team leader and U.S. war veteran who now assesses security for skyscrapers. When Ford is assigned to assess the world's tallest, safest building in China, he is subsequently framed for setting it ablaze and must team up with the building's visionary owner and designer to trek the building and save his trapped family while finding those responsible.
Johnson also serves as a producer under his Seven Bucks Productions banner. Thurber will also producer alongside Beau Flynn via his FlynnPictureCo. Executive producers …

TRIPLE FRONTIER Finds Legs With Wahlberg, Hunnam, Hedlund, Pascal, Arjona And More

The road to fruition for upcoming action thriller, Triple Frontier, has been a long and winding one. The revolving door of actors dates back as far as 2010 with recent news of Channing Tatum, Mahershala Ali, Tom Hardy, Ben Affleck and Casey Affleck all circling the film at some point this year until departing the project while it eventually transitioned from Paramount over to Netflix back in May.
News finally broke on Wednesday for the film revealing talks are happening with actors Mark Wahlberg (Transformers: The Last Knight), Charlie Hunnam (King Arthur), Garrett Hedlund (Mudbound) and Pedro Pascal (The Great Wall) with actress Adria Arjona (The Belko Experiment) also starring. As Deadline writes, details are still nil while what is know is that the film will center its story in the notorious border zone between Paraguay, Argentina and Brazil where the Iguazu and Parana rivers converge.
A Most Violent Year helmer J.C. Chandor will direct from his own revisal of Mark Boal's scri…

SKY HUNTER Takes Chinese Propaganda To The Skies In The First Teaser

Not to subject itself too much to period pieces to stand on its own, China's latest propaganda push is going vertical this year in Chronicles Of The Ghostly Tribe star Li Chen's latest, Sky Hunter. There's not much in terms of an available plot here but the first teaser is now online with lots of military muscle and might to gin up attention, along with some starpower joinihg Chen with actress Fan Bingbing and actor Wang Qianyuan.

It's China's first aerial warfare film at that so this ought to definitely put some butts in seats when the film opens on September 30. Good on the PLA if that's the case, provided the film stands critically on its own merit.

Peep the teaser below.

Well Go USA's release will be this Friday and will then follow through with a U.K. release a week later on August 4 from Cine Asia and CMC Pictures. China's deadliest Special Forces operative, known as the Wolf Warrior (Wu Jing – Call of Heroes, Kill Zone), hopes to settle into a quiet life by the sea. But after he crosses paths with a ruthless band of mercenaries, overseen by a volatile and sadistic leader (Frank Grillo - Warrior, Captain America: Civil War), he must reaffirm his duty as a soldier to put an end to the terrorizing of innocent civilians. Review: IMBROGLIO Methodizes Its Madness With Cataclysmic Poetry

I don't usually listen to independent rock. It's not that I have an issue with it, really, but that it never stays in my purview long enough when it appears, and I like listening to it when it does. In this instance, filmmaker Christopher Zatta's pick of choice is a real gritty, groovy theme that plays at least twice in his latest ambitious short film, Imbroglio, coming out of its debut at Fantasia Festival this week.
With Tracy (Alina Andrei) in his possession, Kyle (Joseph Michael Harris) leads his own group of criminals as they stage a trade-off of for his brother, Pete, believed to be held hostage by David (Travis Johns) whose own group, has Anna (Zoë Bell) seeking vengeance against Kyle's over an earlier conflict. The standoff begins only to escalate even further when a dark twist is revealed, augmenting an already convoluted situation and ensuing a violent recapitulation from both sides in a hail of bullets, blunt force and vehicular destruction.
Zatta is no st…

BIRTH OF THE DRAGON: Phillip Ng Unleashes A Beat Down In A New Clip

I'm pretty certain director George Nolfi least expected to poke the hornet's nest going into 2017 with his latest Bruce Lee biopic, Birth Of The Dragon. However, I half-digress, as Nolfi told Netshark in an article just short of a week ago that his intention was to simply a fun kung fu movie akin to that of the seemingly folkloric franchise workup of the title role of Ip Man portrayed by action star Donnie Yen.

Personally, being an Ip fan, I would have been okay with that were it not for the fact that Groundswell Productions had been pushing it as a film based on a real-world event long before cameras were rolling, and now with the film's star, actor and martial artist Phillip Ng, expressing his own wish to do the late film and martial arts legend justice. Needless to say, messaging made all the difference here and the messaging was pretty poor, and it's unfortunate.

The film opens on August 25 and in the wake of scathing criticism from critics and fans who've see…

To say that Well Go USA has been on a roll this year with Asian acquisitions is a certified understatement. I'm optimistic going into next year for that reason but for fans looking forward to the release of Stephen Fung's latest nod to John Woo in The Adventurers, with any luck the wait won't belong.
The Adventurers tells the story of an ex-con/thief who steals two priceless jewelries at the Cannes Film Festival. After his recent release from prison, infamous thief Cheung Tan (Andy Lau) plots a heist with his partners Xiao Bao (Tony Yang) and Ye Hong (Shu Qi) to steal precious jewels in Europe, while French detective Pierre (Jean Reno), who has been hot on Cheung’s trails for many years, must capture this gang of thieves on one draft. The film is due for an August 11 release in China while it's reasonable to believe that Well Go USA may very well get a same day release. It needs confirming, but indeed, U.S. fans can expect it for themselves in due time.

Well Go USA unv…

NAMHANSANSEONG: 17th Century War And Politics Collide In The Official Teaser Trailer

I'm almost certain director Hwang Dong-Hyuk's new period drama, Namhansangseon, will be re-titled with a more international appeal by its September theatrical release. Until then, that's the name of the film as it so reads on author Kim Hoon's 2007 Hakgojae novel publication, set amid the warring 17th century Joseon era.

Actor Park Hae-Il leads the cast as a King now under siege by Qing forces and forced into hiding in his moutain fortress where his two retainers, played bg Lee Byung-Hun and Kim Yun-Seok, both butt heads in their philosophies and ideals on how to deal with the Qing soliders; One wants to negotiate while the other wishes to fight head on. It's pretty much an epic deadlock and the latest teaser trailer illustrates that in sweeping fashion.

HASEENA PARKAR: Catch The Gripping Trailer For Apoorva Lakhia's Brutal Crime Biopic

Real-life wanted criminal Dawood Ibrahim's legacy has loosely served as the basis for compelling crime stories in over a decade. Director Apoorva Lakhia's own film, Haseena Parkar, is just the latest to surface and with none other than actress Shraddha Kapoor making the clear cut case in signature fashion for her debut performance in the title role as the elusive crime lord's now late sister.
Popularly known as “Aapa”- a name that sent shivers in Mumbai’s Nagpada area, HASEENA PARKAR is a true story based on the life and times of the sister of India’s Most Wanted Man.

The film charts her journey from a young girl to a mother of four to the Godmother of Nagpada across four decades in the Maximum City.
The Hindi crime thriller opens on August 18 from Swiss Entertainment with actor Siddhanth Kapoor and Ankur Bhatia also starring. A trailer arrived just shy of a few weeks ago and the footage boasts sheer promise with Kapoor commanding the screen, accompanied by some slick visua…

Jared Leto Reportedly Eyeing BLOODSHOT For Sony

With Sony Pictures still brewing their Valiant Comics slate, this week's update now has actor Jared Leto up for the title role of Bloodshot in a new feature adaptation. Dave Wilson, Deadpool director Tim Miller's partner at Blur Studios will be making his feature debut as of March with Original Films's Neal Moritz and Toby Jaffe producing with Valiant's own Dinesh Shamdasani.
Upon confirmation, Leto's role will see him as Angelo Mortalli, a ruthless mob enforcer ensnared by both the family and the Witness Protection program, only to be subject to an experimental program involving the use of cutting-edge nanites to reconstruct his brain and body, turning him into a superhuman killing machine equipped with enhanced strength, speed, endurance, and healing. Bloodshot was created by Kevin VanHook, Don Perlin, and Bob Layton in 1992.
Matthew Vaughn and Jason Kothari on as executive producers. The film is just the second of a five-film plot building toward the culimating…

Lionsgate To Expand 'John Wick' Universe With BALLERINA

If you think Lionsgate is done blowing your collective minds into the stratosphere and beyond with all things John Wick, you couldn't be more wrong. Point in fact, with a comic book and a television series spin-off brewing, it turns out that the studio is ready to make the world of the titular assasin a whole lot bigger.

The word now is Ballerina - such is the title of the script acquired by Lionsgate in a bidding war against other studios last week. The project is described as a tonal nod to Luc Besson's 1990s action movie fervor with La Femme Nikita, but with a more pulpy, hyper-stylized treatment akin to the work of Quentin Tarantino or Matthew Vaughn.
Story details haven't been made public, save for the plot generally centered on a young woman raised as an assassin and subsequently sets out to murder her family's equally trained killers. The sale of the script is a milestone success for fledgling screenwriter, 23-year old Shay Hatten, a Loyola Marymount's Scho…

Ric Roman Waugh To Call The Shots As ANGEL HAS FALLEN Lands Director

Saban Films is poised to release the new crime thriller, Shot Caller, on August 18 in theaters following its current availability on demand. For this, keep an eye out for more news thereafter regarding the film's director, Ric Roman Waugh, who reportedly just landed Millenium Film's trilogy finale, Angel Has Fallen.
Actor Gerard Butler will reprise the role of secret service agent Mike Banning who now finds himself the target of killers while aboard Air Force One. Creighton Rothenberger and Katrin Benedikt, who wrote the first two titles in the trilogy - Olympus Has Fallen and London Has Fallen - were last attached to pen the script.
Morgan Freeman will also return to the role of Alan Trumbull who was Speaker Of The House in the first film and U.S. Vice President in the second. Butler is producing the film via his G-BASE banner next to Alan Siegel and Danielle Robinson, and Millennium's John Thompson, Matt O’Toole, and Les Weldon. Avi Lerner, Trevor Short, and Boaz Davidson …

Sony's SON OF SHAOLIN Enlists 'Dope' Director Rick Famuyiwa

The past year has been stirring a bit with Sony Pictures getting in on some kung fu action with the hopeful adaptation of Top Cow/Image Comics publication, Son Of Shaolin. The novel is heading to shelves in September and the project has since landed in the hands of Seven Bucks Productions whose own Dany Garcia and Hiram Garcia from Seven Bucks Productions will produce.

Casting has yet to begin but the latest report from Deadline quells any talk of Johnson having a role while what IS official is the news of Rick Famuyiwa in talks for the project. Famiyiwa once circled to helm Warner Bros.'s The Flash and is the man behind the 2015 comedy that stands equally in effect to its title, Dope.

The plot and story are nil while the film is being hoisted as a contemporary martial arts movie that pays tonal homage to Hong Kong action cinema, intertwining Shaolin mythology with coming-of-age hardship amid a gentrifying neighborhood. Longino wrote the initial draft for the film and is also exe…

Marvel's latest endeavors to promote the new film, Black Panther, have done wonders for actor Chadwick Boseman in lieu of his other new forthcoming title, Message From The King from director Fabrice du Welz. THE NIGHT COMES FOR US: 'Ito' Peeks Out Of Joe Taslim's Instagram For The New Crime Thriller

Lest you forget about writer and director Timo Tjahjanto's solo directorial debut, The Night Comes For Us, more updates are still to come. Production on the film wrapped back in March on the pic with a near-seven year evolution in its wake before starting in December 2016.

With a Jakarta shoot 76 days in, it will be a while before we get to see some official jewels from production which has actor Joe Taslim (Furious 6, Star Trek: Beyond) making his debut. For now though, we have a new grab on display at Tjahjanto's Instagram which you can view below featuring Taslim in character.

Taslim plays Ito, a gangland enforcer arriving from his stint at abroad and home to his crime family in Jakarta only to find himself caught in a web of turmoil, treachery and violent upheaval. Reuniting with Taslim is action star Iko Uwais following their appearance together in Gareth Evans's The Raid (2011), along with Uwais and Tjahjanto's Headshot cast, actress Julie Estelle and actors Sun…

Kitamura's New Horror Thriller, DOWNRANGE, Aims For 2018

Pardon me while I continue to hopelessly wait for a sequel to Kitamura Ryuhei's 2000 smash hit, Versus. Needless to say though, I'm glad he's still on the move having last adapted Lupin III for the screen prior to his late 2016 attachment to home invasion thriller, Doorman, which interestingly got no movement at all from what I've observed, which sucks because the premise is just fantastic.
Pan over, however, to a new press announcement which talks of Kitamura's new sniper suspense thriller, Downrange, for which he is also producing the film with Eleven Arts's own Mori Ko (Lords of Chaos, Man From Reno, Uzumasa Limelight) and with Maki Taro (Motorway, Fulltime Killer) executive producing. In addition, Kitamura crafted the story with screenwriter Joey O'Bryan (Motorway, Fulltime Killer), which the presser describes as "a minimalist thriller with maximum tension" and promises to deliver "nonstop tension from its opening frame".

James Bond Returns To Theaters In 2019

News and headlines regarding the development of a new 007 movie have been pretty eventful. Damage control took a bit of effort before actor Daniel Craig eased back and switched gears toward reprising the title superspy character of James Bond after four films and other updates as of late are starting to make things seem optimistic.
That all comes in the wake of talk and hype over a possible female take on the character and as things stand, nothing is solid just yet in terms of casting. Of course, Craig may very well have nabbed the role once more for fifth film but we won't know for sure until the announcement is made, although what is being made official are as follows: James Bond will return to US cinemas on November 8, 2019 with a traditional earlier release in the UK and the rest of the world. Bond 25 will be written by Neal Purvis and Robert Wade and produced by Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli. The film’s cast, director and distributor will be announced at a later date…
