New Trailer And Watercolor Character Posters For THE MONKEY KING 2: 3D

China Lion is releasing director Soi Cheang's newest, The Monkey King 2: 3D in select theaters on February 5 in North America and Canada with a U.K. release on February 12. That said, with the first film long stamped in film history as a box-office success apart from being a critical flop among some, you can imagine the sequel looks ready to ante things up a notch or two.

In this sequel of the 2014 box office hit The Monkey King, the White Boned Demon (Baigujing) played by Gong Li constantly attempts to prise Tang Sanzang for his meat, thus forcing the quartet to delay the journey on the quest for sutra. Whilst Tang was involved in a misunderstanding with Monkey King (Sun Wukong), White Boned Demon stole the opportunity to manipulate Tang, who is vulnerable without the help of his skilled disciple…
Singer and lead actor Aaron Kwok stars this time as the folkloric staple of Chinese literature who goes toe-to-toe against actress Gong Li who plays the White-Boned Demon among the cast.

China Lion's official website is now updated as of this report with all the details on locations and dates to catch the film in the U.S. and Canada, as per its latest initiative to broaden viewership worldwide for Chinese titles. With any luck, The Monkey King 2: 3D in its current state with action legend Sammo Hung spearheading choreography will help China Lion set the precdent it's aming for.

Watch the fresh new trailer below with tons of new footage featuing Kwok in action, and catch a batch of watercolor character posters in the album beneath!
