A Feature Film For Saman Kesh's 2013 Short, CONTROLLER, Is In The Works At Fox!
Remember independent filmmaker Saman Kesh's 2013 shortfilm, Controller? Well, it's heading to the big screen with word from Deadline that Fox has picked up the rights to Kesh's sci-fi action love story set in near-dystopian New Taipei which sees a telekinetic woman held captive as she orchestrates her own rescue through controlling her boyfriend and turning him into an invincible killer.
The shortfilm is much more cerebral than it sounds, preceded by the three-minute short, I_U; You'll know what I mean if you've already seen it as it's since been an online hit through several media outlets, and if not, CLICK HERE to take a look at it for yourself. It's a story brimming with awesome visuals and stunning action and brutality layered with darkly-lit romance, and it absolutely works. And it serves Fox right for noticing, as is the affect that proof-of-concepts appear to be having nowadays.
Alev Aydin is providing the script for Shawn Levy's 21 Laps Entertainment produce.
EXCLUSIVE: Independent filmmaker James Lee is well on the way with the new martial arts redemtpion thriller, Kill-Fist. Hailing a reunion for the director and his lead actor, Singaporean action favorite, recurring Code Of Law star Sunny Pang, the film further etches a mutual creative partnership for the two who've known each other for more than a decade in cinema. "It was fun and great to work with him again after The Collector and Call If You Need Me." says Lee who cites that as both were different films that served the purpose Kill-Fist aims to do once more in challenging Pang as an actor. "Indeed he had to do some preparations for the character tragic Zhang. Kill-Fist is kind of a refresher for both of us, we hope we can move to bigger projects after this."
Pang, who serves up more brutal screentime in Gavin Lim's own upcoming film, Diamond Dogs, is one of the two principal leads for Kill-Fist next to actor Alan Yun, both central to the story in the respe…
I'm pondering taking next weekend off for the Hit List. As it stands I have a few screeners that need screening and reviewing and I haven't at all had the time for them. Plus, a little extra time for myself would be spiffy.
Of course, all that could change depending on the content of the coming week and if it's too good to hold back, you can expect another entry online stunts and hits. For now, its the 16th of April and back hand-springing in her element is stuntwoman Niahlah Hope for the inaugural reel of this week's stunt playlist.
Rounding it all out are reels by Max Laferriere, Thaddeus McQueen, John Wood, Amber Lamarca, Ivan Kasnyov, Nakamura Koji, Bryan Dodds, Beni Alexander, Attilla Kiss, Sarah Laidler, Joseph Roark and StormFreerun with a cinematic display of parkour feats featuring athlete Charlie Havill. Last and far from least is a share from Vimeo with a cool fight reel by Timothy Eulich.
An exasperating wait, no less, for folks like myself who live in the U.S.. Still, it's nice to know that a Blu-Ray/Digital HD release of the new tournament martial arts thriller, Boyka: Undisputed, is well on its way with an August release, while it's even nicer to know that the film's star, actor and martial artist Scott Adkins wants to do a fifth.
He says so at around the 11:40 mark in his latest interview now online following his recent appearance at MCM Expo in London this week to discuss the role and the film as a whole - And not for nothing either as he continues to pound away at fans who enjoy his movies, but insist on stealing them online which will otherwise kill any chance of the film happening before 2030 if we're lucky (my words, not his).
Adkins also shares several new images from his latest, Accident Man, and some gems on Michael Cuesta's American Assassin, working with Tony Jaa on the recently-wrapped ensemble action thriller, Triple Threat, and muc…
