Action Results In Consequence In The New French Action Short, MAUVAIS CHOIX (BAD CHOICE)

French independent filmmaker, producer and actor Godefroy Ryckewaert took to his YouTube channel on Monday to unveil his latest martial action short film, Mauvais Choix (Bad Choice). Featurng Ryckewaert along with performers Franck Blanc, Jonathan Bernard and Alexandre Moreira, the new shortfilm centers around two friends who are confronted by a loneshark sent to warn them about their due payment. As always, talk comes first. And of course, it ends up in a huge, heavy-hitting two-on-one brawl where someone loses.

A year now in making his own shortfilms, Mauvais Choix is Ryckewaert's first experimental endeavor into incorporating conversational dialogue with action choreography-one among a small list of firsts in some aspects for this small cast and crew stuntmen and actor. Thankfully, the result does justice for anyone watching, and promises to be a taste of some truly awesome things to come between now and the new year when Ryckewaert moves his base of operations to Los Angeles.

Check out Mauvais Choix in the embed below, and feel free subscribe to his channel in the process.

Ray Sahetapy Will Blow You Away In The Latest Trailer For PUKULAN MAUT

We may have The Raid 2: Berandal making its simultaneous release in Indonesia and North America this March. But Indonesia's world of filmmaking proves itself to be fresh and bustling with other new action titles headed to local domestic theaters with further notoriety to come, such as the latest production from My Dream Pictures and BIC Productions titled Pukulan Maut.

The cast is headlined by Maxime Boutier, Kaemita, Monique Henry, Krisna M. Wibowo and Munajat Raditya, with action star Sunny Pang and actor Ray Sahetapy - the latter who you might recognize as the main antagonist in the 2011 blockbuster, The Raid.

Pukulan Maut, which suitably translates to its tasty English title, Death Blow, makes its run in the Indonesian film circuit beginning January 9, 2014. And as a noteworthy mention, Pang fans can expect to see the actor in Singapore's first ever stellar crime thriller, Re:solve, which you can take a look at HERE.

The Monkey King: Havoc In The Heavenly Palace will be released in the U.S. as The Monkey King. The first movie is the origins story -- beginning with the birth of Sun Wukong and ending with his imprisonment for his crimes under the Five-Peaked Mountain. Along the way he acquires incredible powers, battling the armies of the gods and the armies of the demons to find his rightful place in the Heavens. It is a classic story of the scorned underdog who acquires great abilities but uses them recklessly and ultimately must pay a huge price to find redemption. THIRD MASTER'S SWORD Starts Production Next Year

Following Bona Film Group's  RMB $1B film fund launch reported in August, Kevin Ma over at FilmBiz.Asia shared some updates on a two-part list of scripts newly approved by China's state censorship board, SAPPRFT, including Lo-Chi Leung's The Killer Vanishes, and Derek Yee's long-awaited production of Third Master's Sword; The latter film is based on the writings of late Hong Kong author Gu Long whose work inspired Yee's lead actor credit in director Chor Yuen's 1977 Shaw Brothers film Death Duel which starred then-actor Yee in a story centered around a swordsman whose past catches up to him after faking his own death to escape the underworld.

The film has taken a while to get things rolling since its initial announcement back in 2000 with Tsui Hark set to direct with a cast that namely included actress Zhang Ziyi and actor Leslie Cheung before his death three years later, in addition to other legal setbacks there after. Fortunately, the film's 3D production is now set to begin in January with Hark and Yee producing the film - no word yet on who will star or direct. Bona's new film fund also included the five-month production of the big screen 3D martial arts war thriller, Tracks In The Snowy Mountains, an adaptation of late author Qu Bo's 1957 publication of the same name which Hark is also directing.

Stay tuned for more info.

See Misia Ff's Fitting Tribute To Korean Cinema In Her Music Video, KARTONEM

Director Spike Lee's reprisal of Park Chan-Wook's cinematic revenge classic, Oldboy, didn't exactly hammer in some good box office ratings, but that hasn't dimmed the adamant love and appreiciation that fans share for the story that Park inspired in 2003. With that in mind, the folks over at Polish martial arts action and performance troupe, Stunt Forces created the destructive visuals emulated in the iconic hallway fight scene set to the tone of writing and directing duo Natalia Jakubowska and Luke Gronowski's newest music video featuring Lemko-Polish rock singer and musician Misia Ff performing Kartonem, which centers its entire theme of romance and heartbreak in the first verse: "Ja za tobą murem ty za mną kartonem" which basically translates to "My love is like a rock, yet yours is like cardboard."

Stunt Forces has been around for about eight years now and their work, which you can view at their YouTube channel has become qualitatively bigger and ambitious with each video. Their latest labor of love, a Chuck Norris tribute titled Old Wolf which pits the best of the actor's most memorable roles in one fan trailer shows a continual, inherent dedication these folks have to the action genre, and I look forward to hearing more from these folks in the coming year.

In the meantime, check out Misia Ff's new video in the embed below and feel free to purchase her album wherever digital downloads are sold. And remember to subscribe to Stunt Forces' offical YouTube channel and Facebook page -- They're not done blowing minds just yet!

Special thanks to Stunt Forces member Tomasz Lewandowski for his contribution to this article as well as the video!

Dominic Cooper Plots Superspy Greatness In The New Trailer For FLEMING: THE MAN WHO WOULD BE BOND

While MGM's longstanding successful superspy movie franchise featuring the iconic character James Bond continues, the purveyor of that very serial theatrical tale will get his story told in BBC America's brand new four-part miniseries starting on January 29, 2014 at 10pm EST in the form of Fleming: The Man Who Would Be Bond. Starring Need For Speed actor Dominic Cooper in the lead role as the sensational author and writer of the franchise, the series is written by John Brownlow and Don MacPherson, and directed by Mat Whitecross, and will also star Lara Pulver, Annabelle Wallis, Lesley Manville, Anna Chancellor and Samuel West.

BBC AMERICA’s Fleming: The Man Who Would Be Bond takes a no holds barred look at Ian Fleming, the man behind the James Bond legend whose real life was as exciting, eventful and sexually charged as his famous creation.
There’s no questioning the iconic status of the man they call 007, but before his thrilling adventures hit the page or screen, they were experienced first-hand by author-to-be, Ian Fleming. Stylish and explosive – Fleming: The Man Who Would Be Bond tells the fascinating story of the man whose own life and escapades were the inspiration for one of the most iconic figures in modern literature – James Bond. The new original four-part drama stars Dominic Cooper (Captain America: The Winter Soldier) as Fleming, a charming and sophisticated maverick, whose pleasure-seeking life was turned around by WWII and led to the creation of the greatest spy the world has ever known. Fleming: The Man Who Would Be Bond premieres Wednesday, January 29, 10:00pm ET/PT as part of BBC AMERICA’s Dramaville.
Set at the outbreak of WWII – mischievous playboy Ian Fleming is untroubled by the specter of impending war – chasing women, collecting rare books and living off his family fortune. Forever in the shadow of his brother Peter (Rupert Evans, World Without End), and an eternal disappointment to his formidable mother Eve (Lesley Manville, Maleficent), Fleming dreams of becoming the ‘ultimate’ man – a hero, a lover, a brute and the one who always gets the girl. He is finally given some direction in his life when he’s recruited by the Director of Naval Intelligence, Admiral John Godfrey (Samuel West, Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell), to help in the effort against the Nazis. Suddenly, Fleming finds his chance to shine and prove his worth.
At first, Fleming’s inclined to treat his new job in Naval Intelligence as a big adventure. But as he encounters the shocking consequences and challenges of war, he learns where his talents lie. With the somewhat skeptical support of tough-cookie Lieutenant Monday (Anna Chancellor, The Hour), Fleming’s ability to spin a tale makes him a perfect fit for espionage and quickly takes him from pushing paper to stealing secrets.
From the director of the BAFTA®-nominated Road to Guantanamo, Mat Whitecross, Fleming: The Man Who Would Be Bond captures both the opulence of high society London and the suspense and intrigue behind enemy lines. Through mind-blowing escapades at home and abroad, Fleming risks his life. At the same time, the stakes increase as Fleming faces his own inner demons, battling to breakdown the walls within and open himself to love. His chance encounter with the captivating baroness, Ann O’Neill (Lara Pulver, Sherlock), becomes a passionate affair that shapes both their lives. While Bond fans will spot many a nod to the legendary agent, the series is ultimately a gripping account of a playboy spy and the woman who won his heart.
Fleming: The Man Who Would Be Bond is the latest title to join BBC AMERICA’s Dramaville, the home of groundbreaking British drama. The Dramaville slate includes the channel’s hit series Broadchurch, Golden Globe®-winning mini-series Luther, Emmy® Award-winning mini-series The Hour, and the Golden Globe® nominated Burton & Taylor.

A Heroine Makes The Ultimate Sacrifice In The New Shortfilm, CROFT

Filmmaker Trevor Addie has aired his latest fan film, Croft, on his official YouTube channel. I shared the trailer for this spectacular shortfilm a week ago under a different impression, and I have to say, this little gem took me by surprise as I watched it through to the end, which says a lot about the kind of vision Addie could bring if he chose to build from this particular concept into a serial or a feature format.

AROUND THE WEB: Christmas Edition

It's been a vivacious year for independent action cinema, and likely moreso than what I can keep up with, with so many teams out there in the world looking to create inspired and ambitious short films and projects to get their content circulating. And today, I have at least four new clips for what I am dubbing as this year's Christmas Day edition of my Around The Web series, with two of the clips attributed to the holiday season.

The first two come straight from Italy, by way of two teams - the first being D-Unit's new fan-driven shortfilm, Gift Revenge: A Star Wars Christmas Special featuring actors Loris Ripamonti and Mirco Cazzol. The piece is directed and edited by Cristoforo Cervino, with whom all three are currently working on a recently aired YouTube action webseries titled C9DES (Codes) - click the tags at the bottom of the article to learn more.

Check out Gift Revenge in the following embed, and special thanks to Ripamonti for sharing this little gem.

The second clip comes courtesy of Daniele Balconi who appears as his own rendition of Santa Claus in Stunt Claus: All Santa Wants For Christmas Is Peace. This little comedic holiday spoof doesn't come with subtitles as it is entirely in Italian. However you get the basic idea of just what is happening - four thugs holding a rather Santa hostage, until Santa gets the upper hand and fights his way out. [UPDATE] The clip is now available with subtitles.

It's a funny clip and I'm sure you will enjoy it. Alex Riva, Valerio Fioretti, Fabio Argentino and Klaudio Muça also star. Special thanks to Balconi for sharing this with our page, and for subscribing to Film Combat Syndicate.

The next two clips are non-holiday oriented, but I felt they deserved sharing as fitting additions to today's Christmas article here; The next following clip in the next comes courtesy of the Serbia-based Team 360 and its members Dalibor Ranđelović Kraka, Nemanja Sekulić and Mirodrag Radulaški, and the team behind their first fight clip from the summer titled Fight For No Reason.

Ironically this not the first time I have seen a short action film with this particular title in the last ten years I have been following independent action cinema. But considering what you see in the short film, the title seems fitting - two guys going at it for no apparent reason whatsoever, leading to a silly and hilarious conclusion. It's a fun piece created by a small group of people who have a total of well over thirty years in various styles of martial arts training and parkour, and are just now starting out.

Check it out below, and special thanks to Kraka for posting this on our Facebook page.

Last but not least, the fourth following short piece titled Sparring At Chimosa, features two of Germany's most prominent film stunt professionals, Niklas Kinzel and Kai Fung Rieck. The clip was shot by Tolga Degirmen, and I came across this in my Facebook feed, so hopefully I can learn more about these guys in the near future. In the meantime, check out their latest clip below!

Subscribe to each and everyone of these channels for more exciting content. You can also find links to Facebook and Twitter in the description of the first two clips.

Stay tuned to Film Combat Syndicate as we continue to introduce quality content from some of today's aspiring young action performers.

Akuma Erects His Demonic Pose In New Banner Pics For STREET FIGHTER: ASSASSIN'S FIST

On Wednesday, the official Facebook page for Street Fighter: Assassin's Fist shared two distinct images of actor Joey Ansah portraying the role of Akuma in the upcoming multi-platform episodic movie. Take a look:

If you have seen the 2010 shortfilm, Street Fighter: Legacy by now, you are already familiarized with an idea of how Ansah is approaching the iconic character here in these images, as well as others featuring actor Gaku Space, who plays Akuma's pre-transformational human character, Goki. But more importantly, for a theatrical feature length treatment, Ansah is promising something way more epic in nature than previously seen. And with the reports already in from those who have had an exclusive look, Street Fighter: Assassin's Fist is looking more and more ambitious each and everyday there is another photo.

Something is brewing folks! Be excited and stay tuned for more updates in 2014.

Co-written for bilingual Japanese and English-speaking audiences, Street Fighter: Assassin's Fist is expected to be a cinematic absorpiton into the original source material that will tell the origin story of characters Ryu and Ken, as they are forced to confront the dark legacy of the titular deadly martial art style passed unto them by their master, Goken, who trained under his master, Gotetsu. The film is based on Capcom's classic tournament fighting video game franchise and is directed, choreographed, co-written and created by Ansah, who stars with Space along with co-creator and writter Christian Howard, and actors Mike Moh, Akira Koieyama, Shogen Itokazu, Togo Igawa, Hal Yamanouchi, Mark Killeen, and actress Hyunri Lee.

A production of Assassin's Fist Unlimited, Lonely Rock Productions, Gloucester Place Films, Evropa Film and Capcom USA, Street Fighter Assassin's Fist has already been showcased at this year's American Film Market, with Content Media having sold online distribution rights to multiple territories worldwide, with further release news expected between now and early 2014.

Check out some additional photos toward the bottom of the page featuring Itokazu in the role of young Goken, and an unnamed actor featuring a "mysterious character" named "Goma", and stick around for more news ahead. Happy Holidays!

The shortfilm is the latest from director and editor Casey Chan, and content creators Bart Kwan and Joe Jo over at Just Kidding Films, and to be honest, judging somewhat by the poster, I wouldn't blame you if this actually turned out to be something slightly more spectacular.

Alas, the comedy here is what's key, and Kwan, Jo and Chan have done a pretty fine job utilizing Sudarso for his talents. Sudarso has also partaken in several other projects this year, with indie filmmaker Vlad Rimburg, and the folks over at Robot Underdog to name a few, and you can expect to hear about these projects and more in the coming year.

In the meantime, watch "Red Velvet" in action, with Sudarso and Jo, along with actors Peter Adrian Sudarso, Dmitrious Bistrevsky, Geran Simpson, Jonathan Wong and Joshua Osei. And feel free to open the description where you can find tons more content, contact info, and links to subscribe to Just Kidding Films for even more laughs!

The Final Battle Between Ranger And Outlaw Begins In FROM MAN TO MAN (Da Uomo a Uomo)

I feel like I must have covered LBP Stunts Chicago a lot this year. Aside from what seems to have been a flourishing year for multifaceted stuntman and independent filmmaker Emmanuel Manzanres, it was only two days ago that I covered two of the team's members, Nate Hitpas and Keith Min in seperate pieces.

Now, just three days later, we are back with another collaborative piece from our director, which he wrapped up during his time in California, newly releasing his latest short, From Man To Man - Da Uomo a Uomo: Volume 2. Two years in the making, the shortfilm follows up Manzanares' own visionary concept illustrating kung fu action in a western setting featuring actors, Thousand Pounds' own Vonzell Carter and LBP's own Brendon Huor in parallel battles that ultimately lead to their final one-on-one confrontation, inspired by the aesthetic presented in Zhang Yimou's Hero with legends Jet Li and Donnie Yen.

Manzanres has done some amazing work this year, in addition to his recent television work in Chicago PD and Chicago Fire, and performing stunts with fellow LBP members under action director J.J. Perry in helmer Neil Burger's upcoming sci-fi adventure, Divergent. And if you are just now catching onto LBP and what they are all about, you can check out the tags at the bottom of the article.

Manzanares also set to appear in the upcoming indie all star production of Unlucky Stars going into the new year, which has already been a really long wait that fans continue to hope will end soon.

Stay tuned for more information as it trickles, and for your enjoyment, check out both volumes below for From Man To Man - Da Uomo a Uomo in the embeds below.

Also starring are Jeffrey Griffith, LBP's own Alex Hashioka and Martial Club team performer, actor Andy Le.

[UPDATED] Chow Yun-Fat Goes FROM VEGAS TO MACAU In A New English-Subbed Trailer

The first trailer for writer and director Wong Jing's slick card tossing action comedy, The Man From Macau aired a few weeks ago, featuring actor Chow Yun-Fat reprising his classic role from the original God Of Gamblers film franchise. And this week, we finally get the same trailer with English subtitles and Cantonese audio (in addition to a new poster), and the Hong Kong title as it was previously noted throughout the year, From Vegas To Macau.

Releasing across Asia on January 30, 2014, From Vegas To Macau is produced by Andrew Lau and Dong Yu, and also stars Nicholas Tse, Chapman To, Annie Wu, Jing Tian, Kimmy Tong, Benz Hui, Max Zhang, Philip Ng, Sammy Sum and Natalie Meng.

Super Hacker “Show Hand” (Nicholas TSE) and Karl (Chapman TO) went to Las Vegas with their mentor, the retired swindler, Benz. They were there to visit Benz’s old buddy Hendrick (CHOW Yun Fat), a renowned master-level conman who left behind his troubled past to work as a Security Consultant for a casino.
Nobody had managed to cheat in his casino under Hendrick’s watchful eyes. Looking forward to his retirement, Hendrick invited Benz over to Las Vegas for a farewell bash.
During their stay in Vegas, Show Hand bumped into his good friend Ken. The two met and trained together in the Police Academy. Ken had recently joined a mysterious hedge fund group and was on a business trip with his boss Chairman Ko, the mastermind laundering money for corrupt officials and triad members in Asia. His ultimate plan was to cause a plummet in the New York Stock Exchange. Unbeknownst to Show Hand, Ken was an undercover Interpol agent, collaborating with the Mainland police officer, Yan to gather evidence against Mr. Ko. Yan began her investigations in Shanghai and Hong Kong while Ken gained access to Mr. Ko in Vegas. Realising he has a mole in his company, Mr. Ko put a hit on Ken. Ken managed to save the collected evidence in a USB and hide it with Show Hand before his death. The USB was accidentally taken away by Hendrick’s daughter, Charlie who had a crush on Show Hand.
Show Hand made an impression on Hendrick and was invited to go to Macau with him. Meanwhile, Mr. Ko sent a hitman to take back the USB from Show Hand. During the attack, the hitman accidently caused Charlie to fall from a building, she lost her memory in the process with no recollection of the USB she had taken.

FAST AND FURIOUS 7 Gets Back On Track With A New Release Date

In a poignant announcement via Facebook, actor and producer Vin Diesel says Universal Pictures' Fast And Furious 7 will be theatrically released on April 10, 2015, ultimately pushing back the original release date for July 11, 2014. The news comes less than a month after the public learned the shocking news of fellow lead actor Paul Walker's death on the afternoon of November 30, 2013 during Thanksgiving break as the movie was still in the middle of an elaborate filming schedule.

Developments surrounding the film's recovery since early December have since remained with the news that the studio would not be scrapping the film entirely, but find a way to edit and complete the film in a way that would best honor Walker's memory. Furthermore, it remains unconfirmed, but was also speculated that Walker's younger brother, stuntman Cody Walker, would take his late brother's place to help complete the remaining shots of the film, which would evidently mean digitally inserting Paul's face and voice into the film.

There is no offcial word yet on how today news will affect the previously-reported back-to-back filming of the seventh and eighth film in accordance with the new trilogy. We will eventually learn more as the news progresses, with production now back in full swing.

In other news, Walker, who died tragically in a car crash with friend Roger Rodas, was laid to rest in a peaceful and private ceremony earlier this month in Los Angeles with friends and family attending.

Directed by James Wan and produced by Neal Moritz, Fast And Furious 7 will star Diesel and late actor Walker with Michelle Rodriguez, Jordana Brewster, Tyrese Gibson, Christopher Bridges, Dwayne Johnson and Lucas Black, with Jason Statham, Nathalie Emmanuel, Tony Jaa, Kurt Russell, Djimon Hounsou, Ronda Rousey and John Brotherton.

Walker is also set to appear in next year's release of parkour action thriller, Brick Mansions, from director Camille Delamarre. In addition, the late actor can currently be seen in the latest DVD/Blu-Ray/VoD releases of Fast And Furious 6 and the Hurricane Katrina rescue suspense thriller, Hours, of which portions of the proceeds from purchases currently go to Walker's charity, Reach Out Worldwide.

Craig Fairbass Fights To Rescue His Daughter In The New Trailer For THE OUTSIDER

The latest trailer has made its public debut for director and co-writer Brian A. Miller's upcoming action thriller, The Outsider. The film sets rising action hero, lead actor and co-writter Craig Fairbrass (Vikingdom) in a story of a British soldier who heads to Los Angeles on a personal mission to find his missing daughter. The film also kicks off a new slate of producing and starring credits for Fairbass who recently signed a multi-picture deal with Stealth Media Group's Adrenaline label, so it's pretty fair to say 2014 may be a fun year to forward to.

The trailer looks great with Fairbass alongside actors Jason Patric and James Caan, as it definitely looks promising for anyone who can always use a good film to enjoy, and as such, that day comes February 7, 2014 on VoD and in U.S. theaters.

The Outsider also stars Shannon Elizabeth, Melissa Ordway, Johnny Messner, Brittney Alger and William deVry.

Recalled from the battlefields of Afghanistan to identify the remains of his daughter, British mercenary Lex Walker (Craig Fairbrass) arrives in Los Angeles to find that the body in the morgue belongs to a stranger. With his daughter now missing, Walker convinces a streetwise detective (Jason Patric) that his daughter is still alive and in danger. The two follow a trail of high-tech intrigue that leads them to his daughter’s former boss (James Caan), a crooked cyber-millionaire who will do whatever it takes to protect his empire—including taking down anyone who gets in his way. Driven by desperation and rage, Walker must fight his way through an army of thugs and hired killers to save the one person that means more to him than life itself.

After initially being censored from premiering at this year's 39th Annual Metro Manila Film Festival due to "excessive violence", it appears the circumstamces have changed, and now writer and director Chito S. Roňo is now getting the chance to debut his new biopictoral action crime drama, Boy Golden: Shoot-To-Kill. After previously starring in the 2011 award-winning thriller, Manila Kingpin: The Asiong Salonga Story, actor ER Ejercito returns center stage as the lead in his second role as another historical crime figure, now centered around the life and times of 1960's notorious Filipino gangster, Arturo Porcuna, a.k.a. Boy Golden, who eventually met his demise at the hands of a group of assassins nearly fifty years ago this week. The film is also the latest of two notable titles centered on Porcuna's life-the other being Daniel Zialcita's Hindi sa Iyo ang Mundo, Baby Porcuna, which won a FAMAS award in 1978 for Best Director.

Boy Golden: Shoot-To-Kill is written by Cathereine O. Camarillo and Guelan Varela-Luarca and also stars actress KC Concepcion and actor John Estrada with Tonton Gutierez, Leo Martinez, Gloria Sevilla and Eddie Garcia. Catch The New Trailer + Music Video For The Upcoming Film, RIDE ALONG

January 17, 2014 is the day that sees Universal Pictures' latest pairing of actors Kevin Hart and 22 Jumpstreet co-star Ice Cube in the upcoming buddy action thriller, Ride Along. Directed by Tim Story, Ride Along features Hart and Cube in classic action comedy fashion in the story of a cop who reluctantly brings his sister's boyfriend on a ride along to test his mettle and and prove his worthiness to marry his sister.

The film is already poised for a sequel ahead of the film's release, granted the film does well, of course. So it will be very enticing to see how well Hart and Cube work together when this one hits theaters.

Ride Along also stars John Leguizamo, Bruce McGill, Bryan Callen and Laurence Fishburne. Check out the new trailer below, in addition to a new comedic music video featuring Hart singing "I Wish" in promotion of the film.

Kevin Hart and Ice Cube lead the lineup in Ride Along, the new film from the director and the producer of the blockbuster comedy Think Like a Man.
When a fast-talking guy joins his girlfriend’s brother—a hot-tempered cop—to patrol the streets of Atlanta, he gets entangled in the officer’s latest case. Now, in order to prove that he deserves his future bride, he must survive the most insane 24 hours of his life.
For the past two years, high-school security guard Ben (Hart) has been trying to show decorated APD detective James (Cube) that he’s more than just a video-game junkie who’s unworthy of James’ sister, Angela (Tika Sumpter). When Ben finally gets accepted into the academy, he thinks he’s earned the seasoned policeman’s respect and asks for his blessing to marry Angela.
Knowing that a ride along will demonstrate if Ben has what it takes to take care of his sister, James invites him on a shift designed to scare the hell out of the trainee. But when the wild night leads them to the most notorious criminal in the city, James will find that his new partner’s rapid-fire mouth is just as dangerous as the bullets speeding at it.

Internal Chinese Kung Fu Delivers Artful External Brutality In The New Shortfilm, XING YI QUAN: APPLICATIONS AND TECHNIQUES

It was back in February in the early existence of Film Combat Syndicate that I got to share a dialogue with Hollywood stuntman, action performer and martial artist, Keith Min. A prominent member of LBP Stunts Chicago, much of Min's energy in martial arts is spent observing the core, internal philosophies of his teachings as an instructor in Chicago, trained in a variety of disciplines ranging from Baguazhang and Tai Chi, to his preferred style, Xing Yi, which can now be viewed in its cinematic aesthetic in the new kung fu action shortfilm, Xing Yi Quan: Techniques And Applications.

As I interpreted before in my informative and poignant discussion with Min back in February, Min's internal principles are what embody his vision to be able to implement his training with students in a simple but effective, and enjoyable manner to students of all types and sizes. Min expanded on the said "internal" benefits of his martial arts training, telling Film Combat Syndicate "Martial arts has really given me a way to condition my body and mind in very unique ways through various exercises, fighting techniques, and chi kung and meditation. I really appreciate the internal styles of kung fu because of how much they emphasize taking care of health. In my life, martial arts have taught me a lot about my outlook on life and how to deal with it."

During our chat, Min also expressed the foundation of his teachings in Xing Yi, and detailed a little bit more in how he goes about instructing his students, highlighing strength, uniqueness and coordination, among other things. "My classes are Xing Yi which is a very powerful and direct style." he says. "I teach how to use alignment and body mechanics along with great exercises for health and longevity." He also added, "There is a big emphasis on full body power and coordination. I like arts like Xing Yi because its concept-based techniques have several applications. But I truly appreciate the way they take care of the body and aim to make it more healthy instead of just building raw strength for power..."

Filmed in the Bedford-Stuyvesant section of Brooklyn, N.Y. earlier this year back in March, Min earned the opportunity to formulate much of that concept for Xing Yi Quan: Techniques And Applications when he collaborated with New York-based independent filmmaker Jon Truei, and fellow New York stunt actors Kenny Wong and Cinematic Fight Studio's own Lang Yip, Team FistyleZ's Joey Min from New Jersey, and fellow action actors Jayson Soto and Matt Healey from Philadelphia and Connecticut, respectively. The new shortfilm is edited entirely in slow-motion, which doesn't take away at all from the dynamic tone of the choreography and the editing, but augments it in a way that further justifies his credentials as one of the best in his respective fields, as a bonafide stuntman, stunt coordinator, teacher, and purveyor of the spirit in which Kung Fu continues to exist to this day.

Click HERE to read my interview with Keith Min. It is one of my earlier articles, and personally, I am very proud to both begin and end my first year as founder and editor of Film Combat Syndicate with a write-up about Min in a brand new body of work.

In addition, you can learn more about Min in the description of the video where you may subscribe to LBP Stunts Chicago for more awesome content. And also, check out some behind the scenes photos following the brand new shortfilm below.

Check Out The Director's Cut Fifth Trailer For POLICE STORY 2013

A fifth and possible final trailer arrived for the upcoming release of action star Jackie Chan's Police Story 2013. Directed by Ding Sheng, the film promises to bring a new, darker aesthetic to the classic, more colorful titular film series that earned Chan his fame as a leading figure in Hong Kong action cinema back in the 1980's.
Considering new press as of late, it's very pleasing to hear that Chan still has the drive to direct quality action while he settles back from performing the usual bigger, signature feats of stuntwork that have garnered his career with as much praise as it has with the numerous injuries he has suffered-some even being life-threatening. Going into 2014, I look forwarded to seeing what else this amazing man is capable of in the weeks and months ahead. With Skiptrace and DragonBlade coming thereafter, and the possibility of starring in Karate Kid 2 and a fourth Armour Of God serving with a CZ12 sequel, clearly Chan isn't done impressing the hell out of you. So I think it's safe to consider Police Story 2013 the mark of a new beginning, any way you slice it.

Police Story 2013 also stars Liu YeHuang BoJing TianZhang Lanxin, Wang ZhifeiZhang Xiaoning and Guli Nazha, and opens across theaters in Asia on December 24, 2013 in 2D/3D and IMAX. Check out the trailer below, in addition to the official music video for the film's title song, "Zheng Jiu"《拯救》(a.k.a. Rescue).

Police Story 2013″ follows Jackie Chan’s legendary series “Police Story” and this sixth installment, the film tells the story of one night, at a downtown district bar, all guests were taken hostage. Among them are Interpol, Zhong Wen and daughter Miao Miao. The criminal looks familiar; it is bar owner Wu Jiang whose demand in this hostage situation is the release of a criminal who has been in police custody for a long time. Are things as simple as it looks? What is his true motivation for this desperate action?

Arnold Schwarzenegger Is A One-Man Army In The New Trailer For SABOTAGE

The new trailer and poster debuted this week for Open Road's upcoming April 11, 2014 release, Sabotage. The latest foray into action from director and co-writer David Ayer, Sabotage sees longtime Hollywood legend and The Expendables 3 co-star Arnold Schwarzenegger back in form as the leader of a DEA task force that become the target of a hidden enemy when millions of dollars found during a raid turn up missing.

Some of Ayer's most notable writing and directing credits collectively include The Fast And The Furious, Dark Blue, Training Day, Street Kings and his most recent success with End Of Watch with Jake Gyllenhaal. From there, you can pretty much guarantee that Ayer knows his stuff when it comes to intriguing cop stories involving corruption, delivered with explosive action to boot. And with him currently putting the World War 2 tank thriller, Fury together by next year, Sabotage should prove to be a fullfilling appetizer, if not a continuing entree of good old fashioned Schwarzenegger-style action cinema since switching post-California governor gears in The Last Stand.

Sabotage also stars Sam Worthington, Mireille Enos, Joe Manganiello, Terrence Howard, Josh Holloway, Olivia Williams, Max Martini, Harold Perrineau and Josh Holloway.

In "Sabotage", Arnold Schwarzenegger leads an elite DEA task force that takes on the world's deadliest drug cartels. When the team successfully executes a high-stakes raid on a cartel safe house, they think their work is done - until, one-by-one, the team members mysteriously start to be eliminated.  As the body count rises, everyone is a suspect.
