Rileah Vanderbilt Battles Monsters And Henchmen In A New WONDER WOMAN Shortfilm

Delivered with almost the same aesthetic seen in Zack Snyder's Man Of Steel, director Sam Balcomb shares his own vision of the iconic DC Comics superheroine, Wonder Woman, in a new two-minute shortfilm shot and released this year with Grayson: Earth One actress Rileah Vanderbilt. While one of just several internet gems to go online illuatrating the superhuman Amazonian warrioress in recent years, Balcomb's latest work (accompanied by the action team that brought you the award-winning shortfilm, Kill Shelter) could not have come at a better time, considering recent casting rumors surrounding Snyder's upcoming follow-up, Batman vs. Superman, with Henry Cavill returning opposite actor Ben Affleck's inheritance of Christian Bale's former role.

Well, as it stands, one can only hope. Rumors are a damper when debunked, and we are long overdue for a live-action Wonder Woman movie on the big screen, standalone or otherwise.

Wake up WB! The internet is calling!

Watch Two New Behind-The-Scenes Featurettes For TOM YUM GOONG 2

Almost down the wire now, and Thailand cinemas are twenty four days away from the release of director Prachya Pinkaew's new 3D action spectacle, Tom Yum Goong 2. There are currently two viral featurettes available below which grabbed my attention, that give you a brief behind-the-scenes look at the film with speaking excerpts from Pinkaew and action director Panna Rittikrai, as well as several other members of the crew.

One featurette appears to deal with the aspects of shooting action in 3D, while the other looks like a promo on the epic scale of some of the stunt and fight work seen in the final trailer, including just a little extra from our beloved action starlet Jija Yanin, and our hair-whipping femme fatale in red, actress Ratha Phongarm. Unfortunately, neither of them came with any English subs, so there is no way of knowing what exactly they are saying, unless you or someone you know understands Thai. All in all, both are pretty much aiming at promoting the film, making as much use of the next three weeks before the film's theatrical release in Thailand, prior to its Hong Kong release in November.

Magnolia Pictures currently has North American rights to the film under The Protector 2, and we might be a bit of ways from hearing more on it for the next month or two.

Stay tuned, and enjoy!

Kham (Tony Jaa) has become the suspect in the murder of Suchart- the influential owner of an elephant camp, who was killed by three punches to the dead spots by a martial arts expert, and Kham (Tony Jaa) was the last one seen at crime scene. He needed to run away from the authorities and the hunt by Suchart’s twin nieces (Jija Yanin and Teerada Kittisiriprasert) Luckily, he was helped by Sgt. Mark (Petchtai Wongkamlao) the Interpol who was sent from Sydney to handle some secret mission.
Kham keeps on running while trying to find Khon, the elephant whom he loves like his own brother who was kidnapped a few days ago. The longer he runs, he more he gets involved in a secret organization led by LZ the big boss who is very passionate in collecting fighters from all over the world into his secret stable. His fighters like Twenty (Ratha Pho-ngarm) and Number Two (Maritz) intend to grab Kham to satisfy their boss’ objectives.
Be prepared for the extreme fights by Tony Jaa with various action disciplines, all death defying and the risky fight scenes designed by the Thai action movie which the whole world is waiting to see in 3D shooting platform.

Emergency Kung Fu Is Just A Google Search Away In The New Shortfilm, FUTURE BOSS

The latest in a slate of exciting collaborations from The Stunt People, indie action star Eric Jacobus has unveiled a slick new short film teaming with German action film pair, brothers Lorenz and Felix Hideyoshi Ruwwe for the 80's style kung fu sci-fi short, Future Boss. The shortfilm is the latest Team Internet gathering which Lorenz directed on location in San Francisco from April 1, 2013 through April 5, immediately after completing his previous project, Rope-A-Dope, which is still allocating throughout the film festival circuit.

Future Boss takes off as car-thief Eric experiments with his own pair of Google Glasses in a failed attempt to break into a car. Just after he gives up and tosses them, he is forced to defend himself against Lorenz, who plays a terminator-style kung fu assassin from the future programmed to take out before he becomes president. Fortunately, as you will see, Eric's trusty Google Goggles come quite useful when he needs them, with appearances by Felix who plays Eric's pivotal carjacking expert and online kung fu tutor.

Future Boss displays high energy fight choreography between Eric and Lorenz, both longtime screenfighting veterans for a number of years, with great cinematography to capture the action thanks to Shawn Finney. In addition, if you're a fan of indie action cinema, you are likely to recognize them from the German independent action film team, Young Masters, in their latest collaborative summer short film release of Tribal Ties with actors Max Huang and Eskindir Tesfay.

Future Boss is definitely a project that unites two of the indie action field's best and brightest filmmakers, who know well more than a thing or two about translating action on film. This why they make movies. So, feel free to take a look at it in the embed below and share it with friends. And be sure to subscribe to the channel and stay tuned for the upcoming October of Eric Jacobus's film festival favorite, Rope-A-Dope, which airs in October.

Shawn Baichoo Takes No Prisoners In The New Shortfilm, THE PUNISHER: NO MERCY

After releasing their first teaser in May and circulating through this summer's film festival circuit, the Montreal-based independent action film group, The Kombat Krew, unveiled their new Marvel short fan film, The Punisher: No Mercy. Directed by independent filmmaker, co-producer/writer J. Ambrus, the shortfilm was shot between October and November 2012 for 3.5 non-consecutive shooting days with actor, indie action star and stunt coordinator, Shawn Baichoo in a unique portrayal of the Marvel character opposite actors James Malloch and Giancarlo Caltabiano.

The short film also stars actress and martial arts perfomer Amber Goldfarb in the role of fellow Marvel anti-heroine in red, Elektra, which for Baichoo was, as he explains, a particular casting choice waiting to happen over the last several years. "Amber and I knew each other vaguely from theatre school (she graduated a few years after me), but I got to know her when we worked on Assassin's Creed II together. Appropriately enough, I was designing a fight for it and she was the actress cast to kick some ass. After that we started training together and doing small projects and became good friends, and so when the idea for PNM came up, I thought she'd be a shoe-in for Elektra. In fact, we wrote in Elektra because of her, not the other way around (i.e. writing the part and then trying to cast it)!"

Baichoo and I later chatted on a mildly controversial topic as of recent surrounding famous superheroes and casting choices for movies, a subject we proceeded after discussing his own experimental creative measures for playing Frank Castle. As far as criticisms go, Baichoo has already garnered a lot of praise for his approach toward the role, including the overall look and narration that takes place. In contrast, he also recognizes some criticisms from hardcore fans over the issue of Baichoo playing a bald emulation of the beloved skull-wearing ass kicker. However, he makes no apologies in his illustration of the character, and continues to focus on the upsides to presenting a different type of image for the role, including one in particular. "One of the ups of having a bald Punisher (Baldisher?) is that my head almost looks skull-like in some shots, adding to the menace and symbolism I find." he says. "I see Frank as a force of nature, an angel of death. He's barely human any more. That gets a bit lost when he looks like some young handsome man with a neat little haircut."

Baichoo has plans to follow up The Punisher: No Mercy in later projects, provided the viewing numbers are good, in addition to other superhero projects. So feel free to check it out in the embed below, and follow Baichoo on twitter @ShawnBaichoo for more exciting content in the months ahead.

You can also find Twitter and Facebook links to subscribe to the shortfilm in the YouTube description.

Expect no deals, no compromises and no mercy in this fan-adaptation of Marvel's foremost anti-hero, The Punisher! In "The Punisher: No Mercy" Frank Castle pursues his dark crusade of brutal justice against criminals who prey on the innocent. They may think they're above the law, and they may be right, but they're not above punishment, they're not above HIM.

Watch Andrew Dean's New Shortfilm, COPE

Independent filmmaker Andrew Dean has unveiled his newest short dramatic action short, Cope. The shortfilm endured a three-day shoot before releasing a teaser in early September, featuring actor and stunt coordinator Anthony Giovanni Elias in his first lead.

In Cope, Dean wrote and directed the shortfilm which tackles the defining, thematic issue of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder in the eyes of the average soldier forced to deal with life after extensive and brutal captivity in wartime. As Dean describes in my previous talk, "The film isn't just an action film with great fight and tourture scenes. It focuses on the mental stability of a person and what he'll have to go through and learn to live with. Sometimes there isn't always going to be a solution or a quick fix. The film is meant to not only entertain, but also to make you think and that's what I really wanted to accomplish with this."

Cope certainly brings a visual element that helps it stands out from a lot of other independent shorts I have seen. I could definitely tell Dean was very particular about how he wanted to illustrate this short, reflective story on a real world issue. The action is fierce and designed very well thanks to Elias, who pulls quite an impressive job portraying the lead and invoking all the physical, intrinsic and symptomatic elements of his character. Elias previously shared his affinity with war movies, as well as proximity to the issue considering select family members who have service backgrounds. He also delved into his depth of research for his role, telling Film Combat Syndicate, "...when Dean told me about my character and what he was going through in the story, I thought to myself 'What's it like inside a soldiers mind when he has seen and been through war?... How does he feel seeing his comrades die in front of him?... How did he feel when he made his first kill?... What is it like to be captured and tortured by the enemy for months and possibly years?...' I locked myself in my room and watched alot of documentaries of these old Vets telling their stories and tried to mentally put myself in thier shoes to get my mind in that very dark place. It wasnt easy, but I got it done."

Cope is readying to hit the film festival this week, so stay tuned to the official Facebook page for Genesis Action Stunts in the tags below for more info. The short film also stars Genesis members Rodney LoftonAndrew Trask, Derek Fernando Leavitt, Marc Guionnaud and co-stunt coordinator Vidal Acosta.

New York Actress CRYSTAL T. WILLIAMS Needs Your Help

I don't normally write about things non-related to movies on my blog. However, since the release of the first teaser for independent filmmaker, actor, martial artist and New Jersey native Franklin Correa's upcoming action suspense thriller, Mistaken, a situation has arisen to which I feel a responsibilty to engage in.

Today during a private Facebook chat, I briefly met actress and Mistaken co-star Crystal T. Williams, an aspiring actress since the age of thirteen, and has been involved in film since the age of eighteen. In June, she was diagnosed with Chronic Myelogenous Leukemia, a fatal disease which is said to be rarely detected, and often in its third stage when it is. A more precise description of it can be found HERE.

Since then, Ms. Williams has been fortunate to catch the disease at such an earlier stage and is taking pre-emptive measures to counteract her condition until she can take a bold, unique approach that she believes will grant her a healthier, more natutal, hollistic treatment process until she is cured. And that process will only be met at the Intergrative Cancer Therapy Center, a special facility in Mexico. However, as with all things medicinal, it comes at quite the hefty price of $30,000, so Ms. Williams is currently busy raising as much money as she can.

As it stands, Correa himself will be doing his part leading up to the debut of his next film, including seeking fundraising efforts from friends and family in the martial arts community, and local newspaper outlets, in addition to a red carpet premiere with 50% of the proceeds going to Ms. Williams's treatment. In the meantime, for more information on Ms. Williams's condition ans how to make a generous donation, visit her official GoFundMe campaign page, and subscribe to the official Facebook page for Mistaken.

This particular article comes long after a time in my life where I lost a family member to a form of cancer. I was only as close to the situation as the talk of it among other family members, including my aunt, whose passing several years ago came at a surprise to us, and more devastingly so to my cousins. Life has since gone on with healing, but as so with the reminder that as long as there is time, there is still a hope that a cure will be imminent for those still suffering. And in that time, now, it is my personal hope that these fundraising efforts for Ms. Willams will be a success from here on out, as I look forward to hearing greater things of her acting career for the years ahead.

Share the fundraiser, donate if you can and help save a life.

Kombat Comes To Life In The New Shortfilm, NERD VS. SCORPION

By now, the internet is full of gems created by filmmakers sought after by the people over at Machinima to help promote the latest release of Mortal Kombat Legacy: Season 2. With that in mind, it seems the celebration continues with the latest interpretive comedic action short from independent filmmaker Aaron Schoenke and the crew over at Bat In The Sun Productions, who are best known for bringing some of the most famed and beloved fictional action heroes to life for fans to enjoy.

If anything, Schoenke's latest work, Nerd VS. Scorpion will serve as a predecessor to the upcoming October release of his next project, which will see the classic ninja-clad black-and-gold Kombatant face off with the iconic The White Ranger from Saban's Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, in what is one of the most highly anticipated match-ups in the history of Bat In The Sun. For now though, with action actor Peter Jang in costume courtesy of designer Alexander Brooks, along with co-star Alex Kellerman and actress Chelsea Dawn Westerlund's cameo for Sonya Blade, it seems Scorpion has a bit of a score to settle against a nerd gamer with a big mouth. And for those of you wondering if whether or not the nerd had a chance...well...

A Trip To The Bahamas Is Better Than Any Payday In The New Shortfilm, THE SCUMBAG BOSS

If you or someone you ever had or happens to have that one boss they work under at the job? You know-loud, obnoxious and openly cruel? Well, actor Darren Bailey surely harnesses one interpretation of this in one of his best comedic performances in the new shortfilm, The Scumbag Boss, from director Devin White, a.k.a. Kid Haru.

The project is yet another in a slate of random eventful gatherings by Team Internet, longtime internet netizens listed in the forum at thestuntpeople.com who follow and work in the independent action film industry, making shortfilms whenever they regroup in the same city. This time, it happened to fall on this year's events at the Action On Film festival, with White and Bailey joined by independent film veteran and screenfighter Jon Truei, along with Tony Sre, Bryan Sloyer, Edward Kahana, Spencer Skoglund and Stephen Dunford, with Malay Kim designing the comedic action.

Feel free to subscribe to White's YouTube channel in the embed below for more exciting content to come!

The film also lends itself to the credit of recent news that S.H.I.E.L.D. executive producer and Avengers 1 & 2 director Joss Whedon briefly came on board to rewrite some of the scenes, which should otherwise add a little extra to a film already carried by a faithful audience that loves its heroes, in comic book ink and on the big and small screen. YouTube Stars Join Machinima In Celebrating The Release Of MORTAL KOMBAT LEGACY 2

This week is chock-full of Mortal Kombat gems in light of the latest premiere of Mortal Kombat Legacy: Season 2. With the latest team effort from EMC Monkeys having released their own promotional piece for the series, several other directors also joined the fray, including Mike Dahlquist, Caine Sinclair and David Moore.

For the first, Dahlquist (a.k.a. Mike Diva) brings EMC Monkey team members Johnny Yang and Tony Sre in a classic duel to the bloody finish as Scorpion and Noob Saibot. Unlike Yang's previously clip as Raiden, this one brings fatalities, all the more reason to watch and enjoy.

The next video features exquisite work from the team members of Sub Over Hype, with Kristina Baskett, James Hutchison and Solomon Brende starring as classic characters Kitana, Sub-Zero and Scorpion. The choreography is very good with tasteful performances from the cast, including Baskett who, aside from MKL2's Samantha Jo, brings one of the better physical performances as the Edenian princess I've seen in indie film. No dialogue here, just all action, and its all awesome to watch, thanks to cinematographer Leo Kei Angelos.

The last video showcases the same track, but a different, slightly more musical dance-fighting interpretation courtesy of choreographer David Moore. You pretty much get all the characters joining in an epic brawl highlit by another interpretive face-off between legendary characters Scorpion and Sub-Zero fighting over the last piece of chicken. Hence the title. Watch.

With all these videos out celebrating the release of Mortal Kombat Legacy 2, I won't be surprised if there are more. At this point now, we are well or 20 years since the release of thw original game that started it all, amidst the technology that would ultimately see the game's cinematic vision finally brought to life in 1995. The rest, of course, is history, and if you haven't heard of Mortal Kombat by now, and you love martial arts movies and games, I can only tell you do what Scorpion says so well, and go to Machinima's YouTube page and catch up on all things Mortal Kombat Legacy.

Monkey Kombat features EMC's own Johnny Yang and Xin Sarith Wuku in their respective roles as the God Of Thunder, Raiden, and the Outworld emperor's demon sorceror, Shang Tsung, performing classic moves paying homage to the game, from costumes and special moves, to the X-Ray gags, and a classic finishing move that adds to the usual unique touch the Monkeys leave for each of their projects and the fans who love them.

Xing Yu) in his first lead role taking on three of the film's big bosses played by the towering Jiang Baocheng, actor and b-boy Nam "Poppin" Hyun-Joon, and actor Steve Yoo, featuring high energy action choreography by stunt coordinator Peng Zhang.

I fail to think any kind of description is necessary at this point. The fighting looks naturally brilliant and badass, and highlights the end-all-be-all reason why anyone should go and see this movie when it is released beyond borders, if not as a precursor to director Law Wing-Cheong's next release, Iceman 3D. So on that note, you already know what to do.

The film also stars Zhang Yamei, Tony Liu, Hiroyuki Ikeguchi and international action legend Yasuaki Kurata, and is awaiting North American release by Well Go USA and other countries.

In the 1930s China, a Japanese cult called The Temple of Hades was ordered to cooperate with the Japanese military, taking as many young children from poor families as possible, to train and turn into lethal killing machines in service of the Emperor. Vajra, who was one of the children taken into captivity, was forced to fight for food, accidentally killing his brother in the process. As the years passed and Vajra grew older, he became one of the temple's most gifted killers. Vajra eventually escapes to China and joins Shaolin, where he receives spiritual enlightenment and vows to protect China from the minions of the powerful cult that made him as strong and deadly as he is.

VIKINGDOM Director Sets The Record Straight Addressing Fact And Fiction In Media And Film

Director Yusry Abd Halim took to YouTube on Thursday to issue public statements in light of the upcoming release of his latest film, Vikingdom. In the video, Halim takes a detailed and comprehensive approach to criticisms and concerns regarding the new film, a Malaysian production written by James Coyne and starring Dominick Purcell, Craig Fairbass, Natassia Malthe, Jon Foo and Conan Stevens, which has already been picked up by Universal Pictures for a multi-territorial release.

With historical and religious issues in mind, Halim points out several quotes from interviews he's done with many news outlets, largely addressing of the lies, twisted facts and misunderstandings about the film pushed in the Malay press. Toward the end of the video, Halim also explains the obvious difference between his film, and the film to which his own was compared by one of his crtics, The Innocence Of Muslims, an anti-Muslim video which sparked a number of protests in several countries in late 2012.

Now this is me, the editor of this article talking...

After watching this video, I have to commend Halim for taking such an intelligent and reserved approach to the negativity driven toward his movie, which will finally make its way to theaters in North America next month. I also find it difficult to stomach when an online troll forces a dialogue on such a ridiculous issue as a movie that specifically centers itself on a mythological work of fictional and fantasy. Moreover, as a non-practioner of religion, I humbly appreciate and respect those who use their faith to help mankind and not hurt people, and I strongly support them in their endeavors. And I say this in writing so as to not be misconstrued by trolls on the internet who think I hate religious people, but to clarify one simple point for myself and not director Halim, who has already stated his case: Anyone who is dumb enough to take an obvious work of fiction and try to turn it to a critical and serious discussion need a psychological evaluation. And anyone crazy enough to liken this film to something as offensive and upsetting as The Innocence Of Muslims needs a foot up the ass.

I fail to believe anyone in their right mind would factually claim Vikingdom was a freaking biopic. Honestly, look at the damn trailers, and then let me know when Thor lands on Earth with a letter from the officials in Aasgard to demand a retraction of this article, and I'll be happy to oblige...unless Blond Thor says otherwise.

Vikingdom opens in limited theaters on October 4, 2013.

A Reluctant Soldier Leads The Fight Against An Alien Invasion In The New Shortfilm, KILL SHELTER

Directed, edited and co-written by Paul Nicoletos, the shortfilm stars actor Billy Bussey and young actress Charlotte White in a story that takes place in an apocalyptic future where Earth is taken over by aliens and mankind is chained and prisoned liked animals until they are exterminated.

Shot on location at the abandoned Linda Vista Community Hospital in Los Angeles, California in 2011, Kill Shelter was originally intended as a pitch to possible backers for hopeful feature film. The shortfilm eventually made its way to the film festival circuit, garnering several nominations, including three awards at this summer's Action On Film festival.

The film lasts about 14 minutes featuring excellent performances from the cast and crew, including lead actor Bussey who also does his own stunts, accompanied by fight choreographer Surawit Sae Kang, and his team comprised of Kerry Wong, Joe Perez, Morgan Benoit, Darren Haddrell and Wei Wang. One Woman Faces An Army Of Darkness In The New Inspired Digital Series, AVA SNOW BATTLES DEATH

Lending itself to the eclectic blend of quirky dialogue and awkward humor with intriguing science fiction, fantasy and action is the latest promotional footage for the inspired upcoming webseries, Ava Snow Battles Death. The series is the latest project from independent filmmaker Zack Drisko and actress Arielle Davidsohn were driven to create a romantic, whimsical, action-packed series about a knive-wielding badass chick forced to confront a mysterious evil when a demonic spirit possesses her boyfriend.

Based on the footage now available through their official website, the series shares familiar territory with feature cult hits like Buffy: The Vampire Slayer and Scott Pilgrim vs. The World, which is something that Drisko and I both discovered having in common when speaking to each other on Wednesday. In our discussion, I also got to learn a little more about what inspired the universe surrounding the Ava Snow character, particularly on the subject on how an overactive imagination contributed to creating such a setting.

Drisko writes, "One day [Arielle and I] passed this place called Sideshow: Rare and Remarkable Books, Art and Curiosities. With a name like that, you start wondering to yourself, 'OK, it's a book store, but what about these 'curiosities?' Is there magic involved? Something out of The X-Files?" He then added "And sometimes it's not something unique at all. You see a guy stumbling down an alley with a vacant stare. He's probably just drunk, but then your mind starts to invent a more interesting explanation -- like he's a zombie or his soul has been stolen by overlords from a parallel dimension. That's what we're trying to do in our series, create fantastical backstories for the things you see every day. In this series we can make these kinds of ideas Ava's reality, which has been really fun to explore."

Drisko is planning a major kickstarter this October to help get the pilot off the ground for the series as he continues aiming for greater prospects. On that note, check out the press release and trailer below.
PRLog (Press Release) - Sep. 24, 2013 - LOS ANGELES, Calif. -- Los Angeles, Calif. 9/24/13 – The Web series “Ava Snow Battles Death” is set to launch its Kickstarter fundraising campaign the evening of Saturday, Oct. 5. The series is a fantasy-horror-comedy about a knife-throwing heroine named Ava Snow and the overlords from another dimension who want to steal her soul.
“We’re asking for five thousand, which is enough to make our pilot,” said Zack Drisko, one of the series creators, “but we’re hoping to achieve some of our stretch goals and make the entire five-episode series we have planned. We have a great story to tell that we’d love to share with people.”
“Ava Snow Battles Death” was created by Drisko and Arielle Davidsohn. They premiered four sneak peek clips on YouTube and Vimeo last Friday, Sept. 20, which have been met by positive reactions.
“We were really fortunate to have a great team,” Davidsohn said. “They were the ones who made our ideas possible.”
The cast and crew includes people such as Daniel Scruggs, a VFX artist from “Game of Thrones,” Russ Glasgow, promo editor for “Tron: Legacy” and “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button,” Steve Rizzo, stuntman from “The Dark Knight Rises” and “No Country for Old Men,” Andrew Parkhurst, director of photography for Ridley Scott’s “Prophets of Science Fiction,” Robert C. Jackson, sound designer on “50/50” and “The Expendables,” Christopher Jenkins Holmes, who had a recurring role on “90210” and YouTube star Sam Proof.
Davidsohn, who stars in the series as the title character Ava Snow, underwent extreme training to pull off the fight scenes. Davidsohn trained mixed martial arts with professional fighter Cassiano Laureano, who trained at Kings MMA and Werdum Combat Team, home to UFC fighters such as Anderson Silva, Fabricio Werdum, Wanderlei Silva, and Mauricio “Shogun” Rua. Davidsohn also trained knife-throwing with world champion Carl Geddes.
“I was never athletic or coordinated, so learning how to fight Muay Thai and throw knives almost killed me,” Davidsohn said. “Even though I still have a long way to go until I’m pleased with my skills, I feel proud of how far I was able to come and look forward to honing my skills as the project continues.”
More information on “Ava Snow Battles Death” is available on their Web site http://www.avasnowbattlesdeath.com, and their uploads are on YouTube (http://www.youtube.com/user/avasnowbattlesdeath/videos) and Vimeo (https://vimeo.com/74853519).

A Tiger Rises From His Cave In The New Trailer For THE TIGER MASK

After releasing a teaser earlier this past summer, new trailer recently made its way online for the upcoming live action masked wrestling thriller, The Tiger Mask, just over a month away from its world premiere at the American Film Market on November 1, 2013. The film is a  live action adaptation of the classic manga and anime of the late 1960's and early 70's, and the subsequent early 1980's, from creators, writer Ikki Kajiwara and artist Naoki Tsuji, with shortfilm veteran Ken Ochiai making his directorial debut.

Based on a screenplay also penned by Ochiai along with Hidehiro Ito, Itaru Era and Micael. W. Schock, The Tiger Mask is already making its way through the 2013 film festival circuit, having had its international premiere the Puchon International Fantastic Film Festival in July, followed by its North American Premiere in August at the Fantasia International Film Festival. The movie stars Eiji Wentz, Sho Aikawa and Natsuna, and is scheduled for a domestic Japanese release sometime in November.

As an orphan, Naoto Date was scouted by mysterious organization Tiger's Cave. The group trains young men to become villainous wrestlers and collects half of their earnings. Naoto Date goes through a harsh training regime and eventually graduates from Tiger's Cave. He hopes other orphans will not have to go through the difficult life he has.
Naoto Date then makes his debut as the villain Tiger Mask. With his earnings, he also begins to donate his earnings to an orphanage where he grew up. When Naoto Date hears of the orphanage's desperate financial situation, he donates all of his earnings, including the portion that is supposed to go to Tiger Cave.
Tiger Cave now considers Naoto Date a traitor and they send assassins to get ride of Tiger Mask.

NEED FOR SPEED Rolls Into Theaters In 2014! Watch The Trailer

On Wednesday, the brand new trailer for Need For Speed made its way online. The new trailer comes three months following a press release announcing a new partnership between DreamWorks, Electronic Arts and Ford Motor Company for the big screen adaptation based on based on the popular series of racing video games dating back to 1994, with a new game slated for release this November.

Need For Speed will release on March 14, 2014 and stars Aaron Paul, Imogen Poots, Dominic Cooper, Ramon Rodriguez, Rami Malek, Harrison Gilbertson, Scott 'Kid Cudi' Mescudi, Michael Keaton and Dakota Johnson. The film was written by George and John Gatins, and is directed by Act Of Valor co-helmer Scott Waugh. CLICK HERE for behind the scenes footage.

Based on the most successful racing video game franchise ever with over 140 million copies sold, DreamWorks Pictures' "Need for Speed" captures the thrills of the game in a real-world setting. An exciting return to the great car-culture films of the 1960s and '70s, when authenticity brought a new level of intensity to the action, "Need for Speed" taps into what makes the American myth of the open road so enticing.
The story chronicles a near-impossible cross-country race against time—one that begins as a mission for revenge, but proves to be one of redemption. In a last attempt to save his struggling garage, blue-collar mechanic Tobey Marshall (Aaron Paul)—who with his team skillfully builds and races muscle cars on the side—reluctantly partners with wealthy, arrogant ex-NASCAR driver Dino Brewster (Dominic Cooper). Just as a major sale to car broker Julia Bonet (Imogen Poots) looks like it will save the business, a disastrous, unsanctioned race results in Dino framing Tobey for manslaughter.
Two years later and fresh out of prison, Tobey is set on revenge with plans to take down Dino in the high-stakes De Leon race—the Super Bowl of underground racing. To get there in time, Tobey must run a high-octane, action-packed gauntlet, dodging cops coast-to-coast and dealing with fallout from a dangerous bounty Dino put on his car. With his loyal crew and the surprisingly resourceful Julia as allies, Tobey defies odds at every turn and proves that even in the flashy world of exotic supercars, the underdog can still finish first.

Revenge Is A Dish Best Served In Time In The New Trailer For DAYS OF WRATH

Making its Korean theatrical release next month is director Shin Dong-Yeob's latest film, which pretty much takes everything Phil Joanou did for Three O'Clock High and sets it 15 years later with an epic, grittier, grimmer toned feature thriller well-suited for fans of Korean cinema. Formerly titled The Punisher, Days Of Wrath sees actor Joo Sang-wook as a vengeful man unable to let go of the tragedy and victimhood of his high school past, brought on by his former bully who has since moved on to a more transient and fruitful life despite his forgotten evil ways.

Back in his high school days, Joon-Seok (Joo Sang-Wook) was bullied by Chang-Sik (Yang Dong-Geun). Because of this, Joon-Seok's high school days were like a nightmare. Now, Joon-Seok finds it difficult to live a normal life due to the bullying. Meanwhile, Chang-Sik, who has forgotten what he did to Jeon-Seok, lives a relatively happy life. He is about to marry Ji-Hee (Lee Tae-Im). Joon-Seok will pay him back for all the misery.

Based on a script by Kim Soo-Young that centers on the historical consequences suffered by third generation Koreans, the film focuses on the story of young man who moves south and is forced to live the life of an assassin killing North Korean spies to save his sister after his father dies.

Production on the film saw a few significant hurdles between June of 2012 and January 2013, largely highlit by Typhoon Bolaven (reportedly the biggest storm to hit the Korean penninsula in a decade) in addition to the departure of the film's original director, Park Shin-Woo, due to creative differences. The film has since completed production and now slated for a November domestic release.

Internationally titled Commitment, The Alumni stars Korean hip hop artist and Big Bang frontman Choi Seung-Hyun (a.k.a. T.O.P.) in his first lead role. Also starring are Han Ye-Ri, Kim Yoo-Jung, Jo Sung-Ha, Yoon Je-Moon and Dong Hyun Bae.

South Korean Intelligence soon discovers of Myung-hoon’s activities and begins tracking him, all the while his own government sends a vicious assassin to eliminate him.

Syndicate Shoutout: MANEL SOLER

Out with a new reel this week is actor, martial arts performer and stuntman, 32 year old Manel Soler from Barcelona, Spain. A first-dan back belt in Hapkido and TaeKwonDo with a specialty in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Muay Thai and Mixed Martial Arts, Soler has been an aspiring martial artist since the age of 11.

For ten years of his life, Soler's training eventually led him in the company of some very imporatant people, working various types of  jobs protecting people, from bouncer to personal bodyguard, until one day he decided it was no longer for him. Eventually, he sold his car and flew to Thailand to pursue a career in competitive fighting, where his career would have remained lucrative until a near-deadly incident with a greedy, machete-wielding cab driver nearly took his life in 2009. And although Soler prevailed, his injuries cost him his fighting career.

As time passed with recovery, Soler had the good fortune of bumping into Jaika Stunts founder, veteran stunt performer and stunt coordinator Kaecha Kampakdee, whose most notable stunt and choreography credits include Daniel Bernhardt's acting debut - Bloodsport 2, the Pou Soi-Chaeng-directed live action manga adaptation - Shamo, Tony Jaa's sequelized epic thriller, Ong Bak 2 and Bollywood actor Allu Arjun's latest, Iddaramayilatho. And upon his crossing of paths with Kampakdee, the rest would soon fall into place, with Soler working on a number of films doing stuntwork and other small roles, including Iddaramayilatho and the comedic Hollywood hit, The Hangover 2, to name a few.

Soler's next appearance will be his first-ever lead role in the upcoming short film, Portrait Of An Angry Man, shot by cinematographer Kimbo Kim and Italian writer/director Joe Petrosino. Filmed about a year ago, Soler strongly considers Portrait Of An Angry Man, a "lovely experience" that fully embedded him as an actor. "Without a doubt, I can say that this is the project that made me fall in love with acting and film making as I was involved all the way from the start to finish." he says. "It is what made me realize how beautiful it really is to make a movie, or shortfilm in this case." Soler will also be seen in the upcoming film, A Man Will Rise, which is still pending release. In addition, Soler is expected to fly out to China next week to work with stunt coordinator Brett Chan on actor Nicholas Cage's upcoming 12th century romantic war epic, Outcast, with co-stars Hayden Christensen (Star Wars Episode 2 & 3, Jumper) and Crystial Liu (The Forbidden Kingdom, The Four) under veteran stunt coordinator Nick Powell (The Last Samurai, The Three Musketeers) making his directorial debut.

On another, more personal note, Manel Soler has expressed his own fortitude, looking back on his life with resolve with the philosophy that everything that happened, from bodyguarding and security, to an incident that nearly cost him his life, has happened for a reason. "I'm very pleased that incident happened, as now that it has led me to do stunts and acting." he says "And I'm deeply in love with acting mostly as it is the study of yourself as a person, life and human behavior in all its expression. So I feel very fortunate, for even though I'm an unknown in this industry, at least I can live doing what I'm passionate for-acting and martial arts. And for that, I'm very blessed."

Watch Manel's reel in the embed below, and remember to look for him on Facebook; CLICK HERE for his acting reel. Also, if you're in the Bangkok area and would like to contact Soler for some versatile martial arts training, head on over to his official Hapkido Bangkok Facebook page.

New Character Banner For Mortal Kombat Legacy 2 + Movie Details

Just two days away from the airing of Mortal Kombat Legacy 2, the official Machinima Facebook page has unveiled its newest character banner, featuring two of its main characters in costume, Mark Dacascos as devout warrior monk Kung Lao, and Brian Tee in a unique portrayal of the classic character Liu Kang. The series comes two years after the success of Mortal Kombat Legacy, with nine episodes that followed the viral success of a leaked 7 minute short film/trailer pitch from director Kevin Tancharoen who eventually got the attention of Warner Bros. prior to choosing him as the helmer of both online seasons and the currently developing film rebooting the 1995 and 1997 installments.

Tancharoen recently went on record in a brief interview with ComingSoon.net to state the current progress with the Mortal Kombat movie regarding the script, telling the public "We're still pushing through on that. The script is in a good place, we're just kind of figuring out the budget and locations and that whole process is where we're at,"Tancharoen also re-clarified where the story would be for the film, asserting that in favor of future season of Mortal Kombat Legacy, the film would start fresh.

The former choreographer-turned-filmmaker was also quoted in an intricate interview with Screenrant, adding more details about the direction in which the movie is going, compared to the series. "We’re definitely going to be focused on the tournament, but it’s not going to be a tournament movie." he says. "Because when you try and do a tournament movie, you’re already pushed up against a corner and a wall as far as your structure. You meet the person, you train the person, and the end of it is the tournament. And I don’t want to be forced into that style of storytelling because we’ve seen those movies before. We’ve seen The Quest. We’ve seen Bloodsport and Enter the Dragon. And now those movies have turned into dance movies. So it’s not necessarily a tournament movie. Is the tournament a central focus in the film? Yes. For the feature film, as opposed to calling it a tournament, I want to take it more as an approach of war. What’s a war movie like? There’s many different versions of war films and ‘Mortal Kombat’ lends itself to being more of a war film."

Mortal Kombat Legacy 2 is based on the highly successful video game franchise, co-created by Ed Boon, developed by NetherRealm Studios and published by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment. The series is written by Josh Baizer and Marshall Johnson and also stars Harry Shum, Jr., Casper Van Dien, Kim Do, David Lee McInnis, Dan Southworth, Eric Jacobus, Michelle Lee and Eric D. Steinberg, with returning actor Ian Anthony Dale and actress Samantha Jo, and actor Cary Tagawa reprising his role made famous in the 1995 film, Mortal Kombat as the villain. The series is also produced by Lance Sloane and will air back-to-back episodes on September 26, 2013 from Warner Brothers Digital Distribution, only on Machinima.

Mortal Kombat: Legacy brings to life the complex and rich history of the gaming world of MORTAL KOMBAT. Shao Kahn and Shang Tsung are obsessed with reigning over various realms (parallel universes) and the winners of Mortal Kombat competitions are granted supreme control over these worlds. The Earthrealm (Earth) is an unconscious participant in this competition and only a few select humans understand the consequences of losing Mortal Kombat and what it will mean to Earth. In a universe with powerful evil sorcerers, cyborgs, Gods and movie stars, this Mortal Kombat digital media series drives a cohesive understanding of what this Universe is all about.

Director Gareth Huw Evans has taken to twitter to finally unveil the actor who would play the brother to actress Julie Estelle's "Hammer Girl". Actor Very Tri Yulisman can now be seen available via twitter donning his deadly weapon of choice in the upcoming blockbuster action-packed sequel thriller, tentatively titled The Raid 2: Berandal.

The Raid 2: Berandal follows up the events from the 2011 thriller featuring Iko Uwais reprising his role from the first film as the sole survivor of a swat team slaughtered while raiding a 15-story apartment building, a deadly mission that now sees him going undercover infiltrating a Jakarta crime syndicate to flush out the corruption in his own department.
